2013 Mushroom Season is Here! Hours: 1pm – 7pm daily

It’s late this year!  The morels are popping!  Ecker’s Apple Farm has been brokering morel mushrooms for 30+ years and will continue in 2013.  I know there are a lot of seasoned morel hunters out there but for the newbies, I’m going to review proper mushroom handling techniques.

1. NEVER pick mushrooms into plastic bags.  If you bring in mushrooms that have been picked into plastic bags or buckets, they may be rejected.  Use either a paper bag, or mesh, nylon bag.

2. NEVER pull mushrooms out of the ground.  Bring a knife with you and make a clean cut above the soil.  Dirty mushrooms may be rejected.

3. NEVER wash your mushrooms.  Do not submerge or soak them.  Wet mushrooms may be rejected.

Market prices change daily.  I will do my best to keep the Ecker’s Apple Farm facebook page updated daily.

    • Hi Karen,
I’m so sorry for this ridiculously late response! I did not see this message in my inbox. I hope you found a home for your morels or at least enjoyed a good meal with them!

      Thank you!
      Jess Ecker
