Reduced Risk
Tru Earth is a protocol based on the implementation of an environmental management program.The program’s requirements include the following:
- Organophosphates are prohibited
- Pests are controlled with organic practices when possible.
- Reduced risk chemicals are applied to treat trees only when justified.
Integrated Pest Management
Tru Earth manages pests with meticulous monitoring of pest populations and weather conditions. Scouting and trapping is done by the grower as well as third party pest scouts, to ensure fluid knowledge of pest pressure within the orchard.
Crop Ecology
Tru Earth places a high value on the natural ecosystems that exist within an orchard. Beneficial insect populations are encouraged by providing food and habitat among tree rows. Soil and foliar analysis is used to increase tree nutrition and reduce reliance on chemical controls.
